Dr. Harkaway has been practicing the art of bonsai for many years now, and is regarded as one of the best bonsai artists in the region. She currently serves as President of the American Bonsai Society, in addition to being on the boards of the local South Jersey and Pennsylvania bonsai clubs. Several of her trees have won awards in recent major bonsai exhibitions. Importantly, Dr. Harkaway makes the connection between bonsai, which has a scientific (i.e.- horticultural) as well as an artistic component, to aesthetic dermatology, which likewise has both biologic and artistic aspects.
